With summer coming to a slow simmer, we’re turning up the heat in the guest department for fall. As always, everyone is welcome to join. Simply drop John Miller a note, or pop by. It’s a chance to talk with some esteemed talent in a very informal Q&A session, as well as join in a critique of our own writers.
Recently seen in the New Yorker, Howard Engel will join us on September 23rd to chat about his experiences writing 16 crime fiction novels. He’s been the recipient of many awards including the Order of Canada.
Freelancers, this ones for you. On October 17th, we welcome Derek Finkle, president of the Canadian Writers’ Group and contributor to various national publications.
Wonder who’s behind the music? Who’s writing that melody you can’t get out of your head? Possible it just might be our guest on November 7th, Dan Hill. He’s penned tracks for Britney Spears, Celine Dion, Nick Lachey, and my personal favourite, “Sometimes When We Touch” – the quintessential love song.
For more information on these guests, please check out the Guests page.
See you there!

Welcome fellow writers and lovers of the written word! Let us introduce ourselves:
The Toronto Writers’ Co-operative began in 2006 under the name U of T Writers’ Co-op, and this year made the switch to their new location at the Toronto Public Library.
The group prides itself on being an open environment for all types of writers to share their work and receive feedback in an honest and constructive way. Writing genres have included poetry, short and long fiction, and television scripts.
Not only does the group provide an outlet for sharing work, but also a way for writers and established authors to come together in an intimate setting. Past guests have included names like Andrew Pyper, Cynthia Good, Karen Connelly and Chris Finn.
The group is open to anyone looking for a comfortable place to share their love of writing, no matter whether it’s professional purposes or to simply explore their creative side.
The Toronto Writers’ Co-operative meets every Saturday or Sunday (please see Calendar) at the following location:
Toronto Reference Library
789 Yonge St. (Yonge and Bloor)
Room B1
(Take the stairs beside the elevator to the basement, turn right and go through the white doors. Ignore the Staff Only sign. Room B1 is immediately to the right)
Please feel free to drop in and see what we’re all about, or contact John Miller for more info. We’d love to meet you!
